Five school teams agreed last Dight to
become memberw of the Portland Intcr
scholastlc Basketball league, and they
will open the season about the first of
the yeur, or as soon nfter the football
Reason as the teams can get in shape.
As outlined last night In tho mooting at
the Multnomah club, a series of 16
games will be played for a handsome
sliver trophy.
Games will be played on a specially
arranged field In Columbia university's
l"rge gymnasium. Manager O'Urien of
that school having generously offered
to provide a place. A portion of the
gymnasium will be set aside and sulf
atilo accommodations afforded for the
playing of the series. All of the schools
nnve practice courts In view but the

a place can ne secured near by which
will be ample for training.

Side High schools, Hill Military acad
emy and Columbia university were rep
resented nt the meeting, and all acceded

coming Portland Hunt Club Horse
show, which will open next week, are
arriving dally at the new stables on
tho exhibition grounds. Already over
20 head are stabled there and more
are arriving dally.
Among thoae who have their atables
on the grounds are C. H. Campbell,
who arrived yesterday with six of his
hnndsome stallions and two of his blue
ribbon winning Jacks. Dr. A. C. Froom
has his fine tandem team on the

every day since the ring was thrown

and Jim Flynn have completed thelf
training for their fight tomorrow after
noon at the Mission street arena. Ac
cording to the plans of their trainers,
both will go on the road for a short

enough gymnasium work to keep their
muscles in order.
T,he Johnson backers pared down the
number of rounds within which they
expected him to win and were offering
even money last night that he would
stop Flynn In 20 rounds. The odds on
the result remained 2 to 1. with John
son a strong choice, considerable money
being offered on him.

nedy, who are to meet in the prelimi

who was Mrs. Ellis, received more than
$1,000,000 from the estate of her former

vesting it In New York realty.
James Jeffries is the original "thou

methods of treatment.

Varicocele
Varicocele affects the veins of the spermatic cord.
An average of one man in four suffers from this af
fliction. The muscular walls of the veins weaken and
relax, the valves cease to perform their functions and
local stagnation of ihe blood ensues. The first evi
dence of varicocele Is usually a thickening, dilating,
knotting and twisting of the veins on one or both sides,
most frequently upon the left side, often accompanied
by pains in the back. legs, thighs or chest, and a sense
of dragging In the groin. Owing to the Impaired cir
culation, a wasting away of the organs, accompanied
bv partial or complete loss of power, almost without
exception follows In severe cases where treatment Is
neglected, and even slightly developed cases annnot
fail to have a damaging Influence upon the organs
Involved as well as upon the general health. Safety
