About half the pco- pie in Portland saw this happy party and wondered what was the occasion of all this jollification. Any one of nearly - 2,000 children could have quickly dispelled all wonderment It was the culmination of, our "Furniture .Guessing Contest,." -which closed on August 1. : All these little girls had handed : in answers to the puzzles and in accordance with our promise - we were giving them the finest kind of "consolation prize." We are glad to say that every little girl had a good time and a fine ride around town. And best of all, there was not the slightest mishap to mar the joyousness of the occasion.! We want to thank all the little girls and their mothers for the perfect order they maintained, which made it possible ' for us to get them started so quickly and safely. ; We're glad .-' ' they had such a good, time, for we had a good time, too. Making so many of our little friends happy is the brightest -spot in the history of our stay in Portland. Some day---well have another treat for you. v . :r- y X A FEW WORDS TO THE MOTHERS ABOUT BUCK'S STEEL RANGES -BUCK'S STOVES AND RANGES are made of solid -cold-rolled steel and all removable parts of the finest gray iron.: The firebox is' lined with the "Duplex" grate, which can be changed from coal to wood by a "simple vtwist of the wrist".'
