Charlton, assistant general pas senger agent of the Northern Pacific, is ot Tioga, Wash., on Long Beach. He Is expected to return Tuesday. A. E. Cooper, general agent of the passenger department of the Rock Island, has returned from a week's sojourn at Spokane and the cities of Puget Sound. B. H. Trumbull, commercial agent or the Illinois Central, got In last night from a trip to Spokane, where he was accom panied by Jay W. Adams, of the Nickel Plate at San Francisco. Charles Young, of Omaha, who is in charge of the advertising .department of the Burlington route, Is In the city. This Is Mr. Young's first visit to this section He Is familiarizing himself with this -ter- rtory so that he may utilise the informa tlon thus collected in his future work. Charles J. Gray, the recently appointed traveling agent of the Omaha here, ar rived this morning from St. Paul, to assume his new. duties.. He expects to make his initial trlp out through his ter ritory this week. He has long been de Blrous of making his home here.. His wife will reach Portland about September t Freight Rate Clerk Wallace, of the Southern Pacific, Is brfck from a week's vacation, which he spent on the head waters of the east fork of Hood River, Saturday night he passed at Cloud-Cap-Inn. Although that night was somewhat cold, Mr. Wallace says that he shall re tain only rleasunt recollections of hl out ing. it is the opinion of Charles Young, of the advertising department of the Burlington, that the low rates for west bound settlers In the Burlington aa well as other lines will participate, will do a great deal to fill up Oregon with a de sirable class. He also thinks that the wave of Immigration will be very large this fall. . Three special cars will go out tonight from Portland over the O. R. & N. Com pany's tracks and the Rto Grande systtNn to Cripple Creek, Colo. . The cars will carry a delegation Of about 60 persons from Washington and Oregon, who, go to attend the Head Camp of the Woodmen of the World and the Women of Wood craft, which convenes August 2.
