SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1909. THE MORNING ASTORIAN, ASTORIA, OREGON. The Daily Market Report PORTLAND, Feb. 5. The down ward movement in the egg market continues, but there ii a possibility that it may be halted in the near fu ture. On the atreet today 40 cents was generally the top quotation on Oregons, and there were reports of sales under that figure as well as slightly above it The market show ed weakness, and there will In all probability be something of a sur plus to carry over to next week. Soma dealers hold that when pres snt supplies of Easterns and Califor nia are out of the way the market will show a steadier tone, and that the downward movement will then be arrested, for i time at least, Re ceipts of Eastern and California eggs the past month were actually tight s compared with arrivals of outside eggs at tome other times of the year, but they were purchase at figures that made high prices at this end neces ssry. and these extreme prices re stricted consumption, so that relative ly small quantities of eggs the past few weeks proved as heavy a load for the market as far greater stocks at other times.
