VICTORIA, B. C.,Nov. 24.-With

On November 16, head windi and

particularly dried fish. Two hundred
rioters broke open the doors and
threw goodi to the value of $6000 in
to the street, where It was destroyed
or carried away. At 7 p. m. on Nov.
1 the rioting grew in violence and
seemed well organized. The Chinese
Co Downs and shops containing Jap

a plan of campaign seemed to be fol

The European and Sikh police were
armed with rifles," revolvers and ball

Japanese wares in stock.

police, assisted by lioine sailors arm

At one stage the police-jiaed bayo

Captain Parkinson of the Teacer,
was one of the fifteen survivors of
the wreck of the Great Eastern Rail

off the Hook of Holland, whea 127
lives were lost. He was washed over
board after the steamer broke n 1wo
and was in the icy water twenty min

boat. He acted splendidly throuuh
out ihe disaster and was the recipient
of warm praise fr,om Wilhelmirra and
Crown Prince Henry who took an
active' part in the rescue.
News was brought by the Teacer
that arrangements ,are feeing perfec

ToyOkisen Taisha between Japan and
Salina Cruz.
Mr. Shirashi is stipposed to 'have
concluded satisfactory arrautremcnts
with the government of Mexico and
the Japanese authorities are billing

How to Cure a Cold.
B as careful &i you may you sriU oc-
casionally take cold, and when ye do,
get a medicine of known reliability,
one that has aa established reputa
uon ana mat is certain to effect a
quick cure. . Such a medicine is
Chamberlain's. Cough Remedy. It
has gained a world wide reputation
by its remarkable cures of this most
common ailment, and can always be
depended upon. It acts on nature's
plan, relieves the lungs, aids expec
toration, opens the secretions and
aids nature in restoring the system
to a healthy condition. During the
many years in which it has been in
general use we have yet to learn of
single case of cold or atUck of the
grip having resulted in pneumonia
when this remedy was used, which
shows conclusively that it is a cer
tain preventive of that dangerous
disease. Chamberlain's Cough Rem
edy contains no opium or other nar
cotic and may be given as confi
dently to a baby as to an adult
