IIRE All 11IWI 630 Commercial Street STATE PATROL BOAT FOR FISHERIES MASTER FISH WARDEN MC ALLISTER GRANTED A NEW CRAFT DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION, ETC. HER The Oregon Fish Commission has just closed a contract with O. P. Graham, of Portland, for the imme diate construction of a patrol launch for use in that department, 45 feet in length, 9 feet beam and 9 feet draft. She is to be equipped with 30 horse power Imperial engines, and must show a guaranteed normal speed of 12 knots. Fish Warden H. C. Mc Allister and his deputy wardens will have full use of this craft and of the Oregon Patrol, built last year for this service, and the combined cost of the two fine boats is practically $300 within the appropriation made last winter in -this behalf. The Oregon Patrol cost $2013, and the new launch is to cost $2675. Both are needed in the service, and the additional patrol will have. a ten dency to-reduce the numerous infrac tions of the fishing laws which have arisen on the Oregon banks of the Columbia during the past few years. Fulton, have returned from Tacoma, whither they went in the interest of the suit in injunction instituted by the Columbia River Packers' Association against H. C. McGowan, et. als., to restrain them against interference with the Associa tion's fishing rights on Sand Island. The defendants were not ready ml sought a continuance of several days, to amend their answer in the case, but Judge Hanaford, of the Federal court demed the plea a bit out of order and continued the case and the injunction now, in-force, nutil the first Monday in September next; an order which Virtually settles the issue for the'eurrent season at all events. The McGowan interests were re quired to file a bond in the sum of $10,000, pending the continuance, in stead of $2000, as heretofore required. Lost.
