COMPANY (Incorporated) HAY FISH REPORT Regular Monthly Meeting Board of Fish Commissioners HELD IN PORTLAND JUNE 9 Communication From Henry O'Mal ley, United States Superintendent For Oregon Ask That Clackamas be Turned Over to Commissioner. PORTLAND, Or., June 22. Thc regular monthly meeting of the Hoard of Fioh Commissioners for the State of Oregon was held In the ex ecutive office on Tuesday afternoon, June 9th. The receipts of the Master Fish Warden's office for the month showed the following: District No. "1". From Fines and Penalties $66.67. From Licenses issued $1083.00. $1,149.67. District No. "2" From Licenses issued $252.50. Total $1,402.17. DISBURSEMENTS. The accounts against the Depart ment which 1 have approved and pre sent for payment amount to the sum of $858.90; $464.83 is against Hatchery Fund, District No. "1"; $371.87 is against the Special Appropriation, Operating and Maintaining Coast Hatcheries, and $22.20 is sgainst the Special Appropriation for the ex penses of the Master Fish Warden. A letter to the Department' from Henry O'Mally, United States Super intendent for Oregon, was read, in which he stated, that it was the desire of the United States Commissioner, that the State of Oregon turn over to them Clackamas river for future oper ations after considering the matter and finding that the State would lose nothing inasmuch as the Government had promised to turn over to the State any eggs that they might re quire, and it being the desire of the State to co-operate with the United States Department, upon motion, the Master Fish Warden was instructed to comply with their request and noti fy Mr. O'Mally that he could have full control of the Clackamas River, and that the Cazadcro Hatchery Sta tion would be turned over to him on July 1st. The quest'on of feeding the young fry at the different hatchesies operat ed by the State during the coming season, was considered. Thu Warden reported that he had talked with all the cannery-men on the Columbia River, and that they had promised to pack the heads, melt and row of the salmon, in galon cans, without any expense to the State, other than the cost of the cans; same to be distribut ed to each of the hatcheries, which could be used as fish food, at a much less expense than liver, which has been used in the past The Warden read reports from R. D. Hume and F. A. Feufert, showing that the natural fish food; i. e., the heads and offal of salmon, was far superior to liver and the other foods we have been using in the past. The Warden was instructed to buy from the American Can Company as many cans as were needed; for the above mentioned purpose, The question of establishing the Bonneville Hatchery was left to the Warden, with instructions to look over the field, and if everything proved satis factory, to begin opera tions at once. f The appointment of J. V, Berrian as Superintendent of the proposed Bonneville Station was approved, as was also the appointents of E. C. Greenman, A. J. Sprague, J. W. Tal bert and Bliss Thorn. - The- report of the expert who had been appointed to audit the books of the ex-Master Fish Warden H. G. Van Dusen, was read. It showed that Mr. Van Dusen's books - had been found to be in perfect order, and upon motion the report was ordered filed. The warden reported that he found it almost impossible to visit the dif ferent hatcheries as often as he deem ed it advisable, and at the hatcheries he had visited, found that the Master Fish Warden had not visited them for the past three or four years, dut to the fact that the duties of the office re quired the greater part of his time, and suggested that he be allowed to appoint a man, as Inspector of Hat cheries, to visit these stations at least twice a year. After due consideration and upon motion, Mr. Chas,. Babcock, of Oregon City, was appointed to fill this position at a salary of $85.00 per month, same to be paid equally out raSTa USEIJiL fPIt No other medicine has been to successful in relicvina; the suffering of women or received bo many gen uine testimonials as has Lydia E.
