The Seawall Proposition. A committe composed of members of the city council with Dr. Logan as chairman is preparing through an attorney, Mr. A. M. Smith, a bill to be presented to the people at the De cember lection which shall provide for the voting of a tax to bond a seawall. The matter is one of exceeding great importance and it is hoped that the members of this organization will do anything and everything in their power to accelerate the movement, more imporant perhaps than any oth- ever undertaken in the city's his tory. Advertising. The advertising for the flour mill nd grain handling proposition is ringing in consideration most en- ouraging correspondence and it may be said that it is entirely likely that the campaign for this flour and grain handling proposition, which works hand in hand with the rate and trans portation matters, will prove success ful before the summer is over. It mav be said with considerable degrVe of assurance that before many more months the electric railroad building that has struck the Willam- tte Valley with such force will be likewise concentrated in this section nd as half of the bonds having al- j ready been subscribed under certain conditions there is every reason to believe we will be successful in secur ing a subscription for the other half at no late date.
