There are more cases of kidney
trouble here now than ever before,
while recent reports show that more
people succumb each year to some
form of kidney disease than any
other cause.
When there is sickness, examine
the urine. Rheumatism is only a
symptoms of kidney trouble. It is
nothing more or less than excessive
uric acid in the blood, which the
14q sluggish, inactive kidneys have failed

and settle about the joints and
muscles, causing intense suffering;
frequently resulting in deformity;
often reaching the heart when death
ensues. ,
Pains across the back, frequent,
painful and suppressed urination and
other symptoms of weak bladder are
not the only signs of kidney trouble;
many cases of stomach disease, head
ache, pain in the heart, inactive liver,
etc., are but symptoms; the cause of
which can be traced to feeble, clogged
kidneys.
A simple test of the urine is to void
a small quantity in a bottle or glass
and let stands over night; next morn
ing, if there is a red-dish brick-dust
sediment, or white, fleecy substance
present either consult some reputable
physician or take a good vegetable
treatment. The following prescrip
tion is recommended highly in these
cases, and the sufferer should mix it
at home: Compopnd Kargon, one
ounce; Fluid Extract Dandelion, one
half ounce; Compound Syrup Sarsa-
parilla, three ounces. Shake well and
use in teaspoonful doses after each
meal and at bedtime.
Where any of the symptoms enu
merated above are present, good re
suits are sure to follow immediately
the use of this simple prescription.

I SECURING TAX REFORM.
CHICAGO, Mar. 3. A Movement
in the direction of securing tax re
forms and measure of financial relief
has been started by Mayor Busse.
At the mayor's invitation the mayors
of a score of Illinois cities will meet
in Chicago tomorrow to discuss pro
blems of taxation and municipal rev
enue. It will be a kind of heart to
heart talk by Mayor Busse and con
troller Wilson with the heads of
other municipalities on matters of
common interest to alL
What the mayor and the controller
would like to find out is why Chicago
has so little spending money, although
the tax rate is steadily going higher.
According to the reports so far
received the same, if not worse con
ditions existed in the finances of the
. larger cities throughout the state.
The municipalities have a hard time
making both ends meet. These con
ditions will be described in detail in
the conference and then from a com
parison of the results an attempt will
be made to fix the blame and find
the remedy.
. It is more than likely that as a re
sult of the meeting a movement for a
thorough revision of the states tax
system will be started.
JAPANESE EMBEZZLERS.
Return to Japan and the Mikado put
Them in Jail and Pays for Deposition.
SALT LAKE CITY, Mar. 3.-Be
cause Utah did not have the money
to bring back two embezzlers from
Japan the Mikado's government not
only tried and convicted the offenders
for a crime in this state, but has
paid Utah for collecting and forward
ing affidavits in the case. A check
for $192 was received yesterday by
Governor Cutler from the Japanese
counsul general. An accompanying
letter said it was the desire of his
government to look after the welfare
of its citizens abroad affl prosecute
anyone who might bring dishonor
upon the nationality.
The culprits fled from Brigham
City, Utah, more than a year ago with
$16,000 entrusted to them for safe
keeping by 75 Japanese laborers em
ployed in the beet fields. The men
were traced to Japan and there ar
rested immediately. Although the
preceedings were abandoned owing
to Utah's lack of funds the Japanese
I officials learned the particulars of the
crime and requested the American
authorities to forward the depositions
of the victimized laborers.

Heretofore one minister has been ac
credited to all five Central American
states. The proximity of the two
countries and the realization that the
best interests of each would suffer by
the continuation of the recent status
is the reason assigned for the estab

It is expected the Guatemalan gov

succeed Minister Aguerra who . has
