CHICAGO, Feb. 2I.-Thc Lincoln Centenary Association wan organized last niKht with a view of celebrating the one hundredth annivcriary of the lirth of Abraham Lincoln on Febru ary 12, 1909 in a manner that will command world wide attention. The charter member include men of the mot prominent professional and business men in Chicago. They are representative! of the club, the Automation of Commerce and the llinots manufacturing Association. Liut.' Gov, Lawrence Sherman and Mayor Fred A. Dunne are among ibem. The purpose of the organization i to take the Lincoln centenary obser vance an event of international prom inence. Plans were suggested for a permanent memorial to the memory of the great emancipator in the form of a great building a temple of patri otism. It Is believed there are a suf f:cient number of patriotic citizens who revere the name of Lincoln to make the raising of at least $1,00(1,000 for such a purpose, a matter of no dif ficulty. It is hoped to raise a large portion of the money in one dollar contribution! ,. It is proposed to devote one week to the celebration ol the Lincoln cen tenary.
