Annual Meeting of Chamber
The Chamlicr of Commerce annual
meeting which takes place Monday
night, Idnuiuy Rth. will tie the most i:n-
purtitnt held siiH the mn meeting in
thi city which perfected the new ie
dime for the Chamlicr. Election of oft
eer for the ensuing year will be held
as there i no politics in the Chamber,
it lichooves every member to prepare for
the occasion by having in miud a candi
date 'for president or. some other ofllv,
a man he believes will best serve the
interests of the city for anotber year.
The work of the Chamber has fairly
started and it la safe to say that with
pursuant and consistent organization,
judicious advertising and plenty of well
directed energy ou tlie part of all busi
ness men, something can lie accomplish
ed during the year 1008 that will make
this year memorable in the history of
Astoria. The reports of the ofliccrs for
the year will be henrd and it is especial
ly desired that all member shall furniVi
idea and plans 'for the 'work for "be
coming year and a letter inclosing a
blank is being sent to each member re-
uuestinji that this be done. After all
there is nothing so powerful as the idea.
The idea iroes before anvthiiiB else. If
there is nothinir but au idea, it will
achieve everything else.
