The crucial hours of resumption have passed. The "legal holidays" hare run their length and served their purpose admir ably; and Astoria, and all Oregon, are in the swing of normal and customary business, public and private. Inddently, I forgot to say that myself, clerks, cashier, and even the boy are nearly tired out, and Christmas trade, they tell us, has not fairly begun. I have been thinking as to what was the best thing to to do with my six turkeys for Christmas. There has been more or less complaint about the ex citement of my lone Thanksgiving Turkey detracting from the stores of other Commercial street busisness men. I have enjoyed such a wonderful business this year that I am willing to do anything whatever to please the Astoria public and glory in it, but not wishing to interfere with other peoples business, for I want to help them if I can. I want them to be as suc cessful as I am if possible, and I am going to give every one an equal chance on a turkey for Christmas in this way: for every purchase made at my store, large or small, from this time until Christmas, I shall give one number which will entitle the hold er to a chance on any one of the six turkeys. The numbers will be drawn on Monday, evening, the 23rd. which will give the lucky number holders plenty oftime to stuff and roast these birds for Christmas. Do not forget that I can sell you Christmas shoes and slippers at what a great many other people might term sale prices, but they are my regular prices. I have been reminded of that old adage, "Goods well bought are half soli" and judg ing from the way my customers are carrying my Christmas stock away, I am satisfied that my goods were well bought indeed. . Purchasing Practical presents means the purchasing of Brown's Christmes shoes and slippers, and I can fit up the whole family from baby to grandpa and grandma, "got a few very good things that will answer for a sweetheart too.
