by United Garment Workers.
NEW YORK, Juty 22.-The United
Garment Workers of America, to which
the Brotherhood of Tailor which order
ed the present wrles of strikes of coat
tailors, belong, has declared the strike
unauthorized and supemld the locals of
the Brotherhood which ordered them.
Ttils action deprives 35,000 tailors now
on strike of all support from the United
Garment Workers or the American Fed
eration of Labor. The executive com
mitU'e of striking tailors decided to con
tlnue the strike in spite of their suspension.

SAS FRANCISCO, July 22.-An in
lust rial pence coiifeienre will convene in
this city tomorrow morning. Two mem
bers of President Roosevelt's cabinet
will deliver addresses at Wednesday's
session of the conference. Oscar Strauss,
secretary of Commerce and Labor will
speak in the forenoon on "The National
Civic Fedcwtion," of which he is vice
piesident, and in the afternoon, James
R. Garfield, Secretary of the Interior,
will give a general talk ou industrial
peace.

GREAT FALLS, Mont., July 22.-C.
M. Stubbs, a well known resident of
Stanford, yeste.vluy kidnapped his two-year-old
child from its mother in the
uiuin business street of this city in
broad daylight and at a time when that
thoroughfare was crowxled. The great
est excitement resulted. Stubbs waa aa
sifted by Maurice Rooa, a friend who
drove up as Stubbs tore the child from
its screaming mother and rapidly bore
it away, pursued by a wrathv crowd
bent ou summarily punishing the kid
napper. Stubbs was arrested.
