The thrill of spring has not seemed
to create a desire for diversion, of
the usual conventional type. Rather,
the effect has been a general transi
tion to "the House In Order." Every
one knows that this Is the time that
old nests are renovated, and new ones
built.
Apropos of the tender tide, anJ the
faint chime of marrjage bells, occur
these lines, from Emerson's "Love":
"The passion re-makes the world for
the youth. It makes all things alive
and significant. Nature grows con
scious. Every bird on the boughs of
the tree sings now to his heart and
souL Almost the notes are articulate.
The clouds have faces as he looks up
on them. The trees of the forest, the
wavlna- grass and the peeping flowers
have grown Intelligent; and almost he
fears to trust them with the secret
which they seem to Invite. Tet nature
soothes and sympathizes. In the green
solitude he finds a dearer home than
with men."
