COLUMBIA SEASON IS FIXED Bill Agreed on by Puget Sound and Washington Fishermen l Intro duced Into the House by niegier. OLYMriA. Wash., Jan. 31. Mogler of Wahkiakum offered I" tho House today an amended salmon fishing bill that has been agreed to by Puget Sound and Washington Columbia Rlv er fishermen, which will be discussed at the Oregon-Washington legislative fish conference, to be held next Sat urday evening at the Hotel Portland, The bill makes no change In the Pu get Sound laws, except to lncrea.se the penalty for violations. With respect to fishing In the Columbia the new- law provides an absolute closed sea son from March 15 to April 20 and from August 25 to September 30, and in addition, a weekly closed season from 6 p. m. Saturday to 6 p. m. Sun day between April 20 and August 20, during which hours the pound nets and traps shall be closed by an apron. The Piper Exposition bill reached the House at 11:15 this morning and 10 minutes later each had been read by title and referred to the appro priations committee, being expedited as rapidly as rules would permit In the Senate, after the Introduction of a few bills, an extended scrap arose over a bill to Increase the salaries of the Supreme and Superior Court Judges. Nearly every senator had an amendment to offer, and at noon the bill seemed as far from agreement as an hour before. CLEAN MILK CANS. New York Board of Health Make Housewives Wash Them. The Board of Health at a meeting yesterday added a section to the sanitary code prohib iting the sale of cocaine alone or in combination with other substances, by any person in the City of New5 York, except on the prescription of a physi cian. Another section added by the Board to the code requires all persons having In their possession receptacles containing milk or cream which are used In the delivery of these artcles of food to clean them Immediately upon their being emptied. Minister Credits His Many Marriages to Cerebral Disorder. CHICAGO. Jan. St. A dispatch to the Record Herald from Toledo, O.. says: Charged with bigamy and credited with having 13 wives by the court of ficers. Rev. Albert Holden, reported to have two sons also under Indict ment for bigamy, pleaded guilty yes terday and was sentenced to serve six years in the penitentiary. Holden mar ried every time the spirit moved him. His courtshi palways took place dur ing one of his revivals and his victims were always one of those whom he had taken into the church. Just before sentence was passed Holden said to the Judge that he had been the victim of brain trouble and blamed his many marriages on this affliction. He said that he had strug gled against the sin of bigamy, but that all his prayers had availed him nothing. STAGE CAPSIZED. Goes Over Steep Bank With Four Men Near Deadwood. REDDING, Cal., Jan.31. The stage from Redding to Weavervllle was cap sized over a steep bank yesterday ev ening at a point a mile below Dead wood. Six horses were attached to the stage and three passengers were aboard. The coach and all the horses rolled down a 50 foot bank Into Dead wood Creek, where the heavy stage turned bottom-side up on two horses, which wede killed. The passengers were M. O. Lover idge, J. H. Monroe and R. K. Finlay son, all mining men from Victoria, B.
