Assistant Engineer! Robert Warrack was on board and i made full investigation of the Rock ; station, all to his complete satisfac- j tion. The steamship Columbia arrived j down from Portland at 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning and left out for' San Francisco at 5:30. She was load ed to the guards and has plenty of people in her cabins. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carberry Joined her at this port. The British ship Glenalvon, Captain King, came down the river at 3 p. m. on Sunday, on the lines of the Harvest Queen, and went to anchor In the lower harbor. She Is grain laden for Europe. It Is said the fine old racer, the Tel ephone, has been sold to a San Fran- j clsco steamer company, and will short ly go south for duty on the Sacramen to river between the California capital and the Bay City. The steamer Aurella came down yesterday morning and Is busy tak ing on her abandoned deck load at the Kinney dock. She will then go on j to the Bay City. j The dandy light-house tender Heath- j er, Captain William E. Gregory, has returned from a five weeks' cruise In northern and Puget Sound waters. All well on board. j The British bark Formosa, Captain Fretwurst, grain laden for Europe, came down the river on Sunday and will take the earliest possible dispatch over the bar. j i The Portland-Asiatic liner Arabia arrived down from the metropolis Sunday and succeeded In making the, open sea on the noon flood. i The steamer San Gabriel, Captain Greene, was a Sunday get-away, leaving out for the Umpqua river, thence to San Pedro. The steamer San Mateo came In over the bar on Sunday evening from San Francisco and will load lumber out. The steamer Sue H. Elmore was a Sunday afternoon arrival from Tilla mook Bay points, with passengers and freight. The motor schooner Berwick went up the river on Sunday after supplies for the Rogue River canneries. The steamship Geo. W. Elder was due in from San Pedro, San Fran ciso and Eureka last night. The steamer Alliance Is due down from Portland this morning en route to Coos Bay and Eureka. The steamship Gotu Maru is due down tomorrow, en route to the Ori ent The steamer Redondo is at the Co lumbia mills, Knappton, loading 725, 000 feet of lumber, for San Francisco.
