The cotter's master reported that he hadj had no sign of the missing ship, and asked if there was any news of her here; On being told that nothing had been sen or heard of her, he squared away for the south, stating that he had made a northern circuit in search of her, and hoped to pick her up to the south'ard, and there Is universal hope hereabout that he may be so fortunate, The motor schooner Gerald C. has arrived in port from Xehalem with nearly a thousand cases of salmon for S. Elmore 4 Company, besides a lot of dairy products. Captain Latham reports that he was bar bound there for a full month, and that there is plently of water, mostly flood water, on that bar. He had a lively time coming in over the Columbia bar, but YY. Eider, which had been heralded from P.miand. to take place on Tues day, yesterday morning, has been de layed indeflnltely by reason of a mis- j understanding between her owner. i Captain Jack Petersen, and Mr. Doe. her agent. Captain Jouanjeau. from Honolulu, arrived in this port yesterday noon, and will pro ceed to Portland as soon as she can m tow. She came down again last evening on her old early schedule and left up In good season, well patronized. The steamer Alliance is due in today from Coos Bay points, with freight and passengers for this port and Portland. The steamer Robert Dollar went to sea yesterday at high noon, with her big cargo of lumber for San Francisco. J- Trenchard, chairman of the Citizens' committee. C. J. Trenchard was selected as temporary chairman and Max Pohl temporary secretary. It was moved and seconded that a committee of three be appointed on order of business and platform. The chairman appointed Olof Anderson, Ths. Da!y and Oeorge Kaboth as such committee. Curtis placed Her man Wise in nomination, and there being no further nominations, they were declared closed and the secre tary cast the ballot of the assembly for Herman Wise. For city attorney c. J. Curtis placed A. M. Smith in nomination. Mr. Smith in a few- brief remarks declined the nomination, and M. F. Hardest- placed "ha.. II. Abercrombie in nomination. The ruminations were e'lar" closed and Chas. H. Aber'-ron.bies was de clared the choice cf the convention for city attorney. For councilmen from the first ward, the following nominations were made: Iyea-'Jer Lebeck. Jens H. Hansen and John Carlson.
