Forest Grove Fire Debris is Being Cleared Away. PACIFIC UNIVERSITY, Forest Grove March 13. The eastern section of the university's campus was a scene of ruin this morning, but most of the debris was collected and the furniture stored in the basement of Marsh Hall by noon. A building will be rented and the board ing hall continued as soon as possible. An effort will be made soon to raise money to provide a home for the girls of the university. One Bill Provides for the Punishment of Government Officials Who Divulge Secret Information of Govern ment Crop Reports. Three Samoan Towns Wiped Out By Eruption of Volcano. HONOLULU. March 13. The officers of the steamer Sierra, which has arrived here from Sydney, N. S. W., via Samoa, report that the eruption of the volcano on the Island of Savaii, one of the Samoan group, continues on a large scale. Three villages have been conipltte ly destroyed, including Malaeola, where was located the finest cocoa plantation on the island. The residences of A. King and C. Bailcley have been reduced to ruins and are a total loss. The lava from the mountain is flowing into the ocean in a stream three-quarters of a mile wide and 20 feet deep, at the rate of 20 feet an hour. March 13.-Butte and the State generally was visited today and last night by one of the severest storms in years. The thermometer dropped to 22 degrees below zero and the cold was accompanied by a stiff wind. The height of the storm was in the central andl Southern parts of the state, a heavy snowstorm accompanying the intense cold. The traffic on the railroads is badly demoralized and all trains are running several hours late. The stock interests are suffering severely and the loss will be considerable. The wave to night appears to be breaking.
