Coroner's Jury Says Lad Who Killed
Sister la Amenable To Law.
Redding, Oct 19. The coroner's Jury
that investigated the death of Rosa
Stowe, the seventeen-year-old girl, of
Whlskeytown who was shot and killed
by her brother, Lester Stowe, aged 11
years, would not believe the boy's
statement that the shooting was acci
dental and returned the following
verdlctr ' .','-''
r"We And that Rosa Stowe came to
her death from a gunshot wound in
flicted by Lester Stowe and from the
testimony adduced we find him amen
able to the law arid recommend to the
distclct attorney that he proceed as he
sees fit"
The testimony at the Inquest went
to show that when the boy was quar
rellng with his sister because she had
liberated estray goats he had taken up,
negro named Nevis has been sentenced
at Haumburg to six months lmpris
onment for manslaughter, as the re'
suit of the death of his opponent in
wrestling matcli, according to a Times
dispatch from Berlin.
At a Sharpshoters festival held at
Zelta, in Saxony, a mason named
Lanzendorf, although weighing only
115 pounds and a dwarf In stature
compared with the negro, accepted
Newitf challenge to wrestle. Newlt
quickly threw him but Lanzendorfs
shoulders were not squarely on the
ground and he endeavored to save
himself by arching his body. The
negro is alleged to have thrown his
weight upon the mason, causing the
tatter's spine o break.
