Portland Telegram : Cam ping out la conceded to be pleasant summer amusement but In the past people who "camped" have gone "to the country." Now this order of things has been re versed by farmers of the Willamette valley, who will come to Portland next season and a colony will be formed to dwell In tents while visiting the Lewis and Clark fair. The plan bas been under consideration for some time," and a large number have agreed to enter the scheme and spend an out ing In the city or near its limits. 1 With wagons and teams these, far mers will come, but hat : Is not the Only means to be employed, and camp taig during the fair will not be the only pastime, for one family near Peoria Is about to build a large houseboat, to accommodate a score or more, who prefer drifting lasily down the Wil lamette to a rapid ride on the cars or steamboat The houseboat will be taken In tow occasionally by a passing steamer, and after a week or so of camping along the river bank the party will reach Portland, where . they will make the scow their headquarters while taking In the fair. When they get through they will sell their scow for what It will bring and go back home by rapid transit A party from Linn county; mem bers of which desire to have their names concealed, Is now In Portland PldPLES 1 "1 Mm!
