ALLEGED FORGERS HELD,
' With ball fixed at UrtW, 3, K. White
and. Charles Finn are held In the coun
ty jail an, the charge of forgery, and
it Is probable that both men will be
sentenced next week. Both men admit
their guilt, but each tries to place the
weight of the crime on the other. Finn,
who was arrested by Officer Phillips,
is man of unusual muscular devel
opment. and appears to be a very tough
character. The men were successful in
having four checks cashed, and tried
several more.
" So careless were the men in their
swindling operations that in the Sun
nyside saloon they wrote out two
checks, signing them openly with the
name of C. C. Maaten. The bartender
tore up the checks and told the men
that they would land In the peniten
tiary, a prediction that seems quite
likely' to be fulfilled. . ' '
