The two German ships Chile and Xer eus, which passed out of the Columbia November 5, sailed a very even race more than half way around the world, says the Oregonlan. The Chile, which cleared for Antwerp direct, pawed the Isle of Wight last Thursday, and a day later the Nereus arrived at Queens town.' Neither of the vessels made very fast passages, the Nereus being out 135 days; but the fact that Ihey were both so close together and both good sailers would indicate that the slowness was due to the lack of favor able winds than to the lack of skill on the part of the men who were navlgat tng the ships. Fast passages have been very rare with the grain fleet of the present season. Up to date not a Single vessel from Portland has made the run to Queenstown in 110 days or better, although there were several pas sages of that kind last year. The agonizing Itchlug and burning of the- skin, as In eczema; the frightful scaling, as in psoriasis ; the lost of hair and crusting of the scalp, aa In scalled head ; the facial disfigurement, as In pimples and ringworm ; the awful suf fering of Infants and the anxiety of worn-out parents, as in milk crust, tet ter and salt rheum, all demand a rem edy of almost superhuman virtues to successfully cope with them. That Cuticura Soap, Ointment aud Pills are such stands proven beyond all doubt. No statement is made regarding them that is not justified by the strongest evidence. The purity and sweetness, the power to afford immediate relief, the certainty of speedy and permanent cure, the absolute safety and great economy, have made them the standard skin cures and humour remedies of the civilized world. Bathe the affected parti with hot water and Cuticura Soap, to cleanse the surface of crusts and scales and soften the thickened cuticle. Dry, without hard rubbing, and apply Cuticura Oint ment freely, to allay itching, Irritation ' and inflammation, and soothe and heal, and, lastly. In the severer forms, take Cuticura Resolvent Pills, to cool and cleanse the blood. A single set is often sufficient to cure the most torturing, disfiguring and humiliating skin, scalp and blood humours, with loss of hair, when all else fails.
