TALENT AM) VICINITY. Miss Ruth Wilson and guest of Anderson Creek visited Ashland Thursday. Merrltt Bailey Is expected home from Klamath Falls next week. He has been spending two months over there. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wakeman and family spent Thursday evening here visiting friends. Harry Lynch and Welborn Beeson are measuring water over on the Lit tle Applegate for irrigation. Mr. and Mrs. Gutches of Griffin Creek are visiting their son, C. O. Gutches, on Anderson creek. William Fox of Wagner Creek spent Thursday in Ashland. Vance Wolgamott and Irving Vance went Sunday evening to Crater Lake and returned Monday. Peter Vander sluls returned with them, wTiere he was camping with a party. G. W. Ager and daughter Beth were Ashland visitors last week. Roy Seaman and nephew, Byron Seaman, left Thursday for Rogue River. Clifford Garvin and Blen Coleman spent two and a half days on Little Applegate, hunting. Mrs. Elizabeth Breese Is expected home soon. She has been spending the past year in southern California. Miss Ruth Chapman left Saturday for Wilbur, Ore. She has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lehman for the past month. Miss Katie Lehman of Dundee, Ore., left for that place Saturday af ter a visit of one month with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lehman. Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Bentley an nounce the engagement of their old est twin daughter, Miss Nola Bentley, to Mr. Stacey Hayes of Ashland, and Miss Ola Bentley to Mr. James Pool, late of Vancouver barracks. Mr. Hayes is a well-known jitney driver In Ashland. The Bentley sisters are charming and beautiful young ladies and will be missed by a large circle of friends. W. Kerby of Wagner Creek was a visitor in Ashland this week. Mrs. J. Twidwell and son returned from Washington, where they were called by the death of her father. It has been reported that the Ala meda mine will be opened up on Rogue River soon. The missionary society of the Methodist church will meet with Mrs. Leonard Oorthuys next week. Notice has been given that the first meeting of the Community Club af ter the summer vacation will be held In the town hall on Wednesday after noon, September 1. All members are requested to be present, as many matters are to be brought up before the meeting.. Mr.Valcott of Ashland was a busi ness visitor here this week. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Yeo returned from a two weeks' visit in Los An geles and San Francisco. While away their two daughters, Mildred and Juanita, made their home with Mrs. Charles Jeffery. Henry Pace is visiting in Central Point. W. Twidwell of Wagner Creek is reported to Be ill. Jack Murray, brother of Mrs. Peter Vandersluls, spent two days here from Agnes, Ore., near the coast, where he is farming. He left Friday morning for Chico, Cal. N. O. Powers, C. C. Ames and E. A. Perry returned from a ten days camping trip Thursday morning. They visited Pelican Bay and Crater Lake. Wednesday evening a farewell party was given in honor of Miss Opal Backus, who left for her new home in Chico, Cal., Saturday at 4 p. m. At the party the engagements of Miss Nola Bentley to Mr. Stacy Hayes and Miss Ola Bentley to Mr. James Pool were announced. At a late hour chocolate, cake and water melon were served. Those present were the Misses Pearl Hartley, Leta Stephens, Ruth Kennedy, Ola Bent ley, Nola Bentley, Anna French, Len nie French, Belle French, Lola Clarke, Vola Armstrong, Florence Gibbs, Nona Pace and Mrs. Nora Walls, Messrs. Ray Coleman, Guy Quackenbush, Roy Kennedy, Conrad Clarke, Everett Vance, Byron Works, James Pool, Stacy Hayes, Albert Dougherty, Hubert Bentley, Ralph Brown and Charles Hyland. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Manlng of Fargo, N. D., visited the N. O. Powers home last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. King of Fred erick were visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Luke Wednesday evening. William Willis moved from the county farm Saturday to make his home with J. N. Pace. Miss Ruth Kennedy of Eagle Point is visiting the Clarke home. Mrs. j. Backus and two children left Saturday afternoon for Chico, Cat., where they will make their home. Little Helen High Is recovering rapidly from the whooping cough. Mrs. Inman spent Wednesday visit ing Mrs. J. Sleepy.. Mrs. Pollock and three children and Mrs. Hughes of Kansas City, Mo., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jeffery. Mr. and Mrs. Ira C. Smith and son leave next week for Tillamook City, near Portland. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Norman re turned from the exposition this week. Merrill Robison and Charles Por ter were business visitors here Fri day from Ashland. . The Industrial Club held a meet ing at the Talent school Friday af ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Wolgamott and Miss Armstrong of Portland left for Crater Lake Friday afternoon. They will return Monday. Woman Wanders In'Delirium Miss DeCarlo, the 23-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeCarlo, residing at the station called Shake, between here and Klamath Falls, caused a considerable amount of anx iety when on last Thursday she wan dered off wearing bedroom slippers on her feet, and lightly clad. Search parties started out about 3 o'clock and continued the search for about thirty hours until she was found. She was tracked some distance, but owing to the dryness of the ground, and fhe rocks, her trail was lost. It appears that Miss DeCarlo has been sick for some time and probably wandered off In a delirium.
