Mr. and Mrs. Herman Summers of Wagner creek gave a surprise party to their niece, Miss Ruth Zysset of Thomas, Ore., who has spent the last three months the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Summers. Thirty young people attended and they had a taffy pull and delicious refreshments were served at midnight. O. Powers returned Friday morn ing from Ashland, after playing for the Elks' party Thursday evening. Mrs. George Zider is ennjoying a visit from her mother, who resides in Ashland. Mrs. J. B. Jones of Wagner creek visited here Thursday. Chester Knighten of Wagner creek was a business visitor here Thurs' day. Riley Nyswaner returned from business trip to Grants Pass Thurs day. Alex. Alexander, who is employed at the mills below Grants Pass, came Thursday to look after some business interests he has here. A. Bedford and Alex. Alexander made a business trip to Medford Fri day. Miss Nona Pace and Miss Viola Jones attended the funeral services of a friend in Ashland Friday, Ozro Withrow left Wednesday mornine for Klamath Falls, where he has accepted a position for the winter. N. O. Brophy of Anderosn creek spent Wednesday in Medford Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brown are the croud possessors of a new Victrola Mrs. Walter Roberts was a Med ford visitor Wednesday. Mrs. James Murray and Mrs. Peter Vandersluis visited friends in Med ford Wednesday. William Brlner of North Talent transacted business in Medford Wednesday. Mrs. Alvin of Bear creek was a Medford visitor Wednesday. Mrs. C. Summers and granddaugh ter, Miss Ruth Zysset, of Wagner creek, left for their home in Thomas, Ore. The Ladles' Aid of the M. E. church met at the church parlors Thursday afternoon. It was election time and Mrs. Vogell was elected president, Mrs. Lily resigning. Marshall Wolgamott is kept busy killing dogs that are not muzzled. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Frame of North Talent were Phoenix and Med ford visitors Wednesday. Mrs. Day, who is visiting at the home of C. D. McCurdy, spent Wed nesday in Medford visiting friends. W. C. Janes of Medford was a visitdr here, Friday. Albert Bruley came over from the Sterling mine Thursday, where he has been living for the past year. He has secured a house and his family will move here next week to spend the winter. Little Gay Lacy, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Charles Lacy, gave her par ents quite a scare this week by eat ing some matches and half a box of anti-pain killer, but through the skillful work of the local doctor was not in the least harmed. Carl Beeson, formerly of here, ar rived Thursday evening from Van couver, B. C, to visit relatives here. The Talent Hardware Company are putting in an office in front of their store. ' Mrs. J. Crawford was a Medford visitor Friday. Mrs. I. C. Williams visited In Med ford Friday. Nowb has been received that Mr. John Hart and son will arrive from Oagland to spend Christmas with the Hart family here. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wakeman vis ited at the Burgan home. Friday. The W. C. T. U. met at the home of Mrs. Frank Rose December 8. After the order of business, two very fine readings were given by Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. E. E. Cook. A letter was read from the state presi dent and also from the county re cording secretary. Plans were made for future work. The next meeting will be on the first Tuesday in Janu ary at the M. E. church. Two mem bers were added to the Union. Friday afternoon the Phoenix bas ketball team played the Talent bas ketball team in Talent. The boys' scoije was 10 to 12 in favor of Phoe nix and the girls' score was 2 to 1 In favor of Talent, although the darkness. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kent and daughter Thelma of Wagner creek were visitors here Saturday morning. Mrs. C. D. Burgan; entertained Friday afternoon in honor of Mrs. H. Fuller, who leaves in the near future for Maine. Euchre was played and dainty refreshments were served. The following ladies were present: Mesdames H. S. Gleim, Will Glelm, John Hart, E. A. Perry, A. S. Ames, A. C. Reimer, E. B. Adamson, W. R. Bagloy, L. Brown, G. W. Ager, Jay Terrill, C. M. Thomas, James Mur ray, R. J. Luke, Peter Vandersluis, Mrs. L. E. Wakeman of Medford, Mrs. J. H. Fuller, Miss Lucile Ames. Mrs. Fuller was awarded guest of honor prize, Mrs. A. C. Reimer re ceived first prize and Miss Lucile Ames received consolation. It hsa been reported that the girls' basketball team of Talent will play the Ashland girls' basketball team next week in the gymnasium of the Ashland high school. H. C. Barnhart of Wagner crek passed away after a brief illness of pneumonia and heart trouble. He is survived by a wife and two small daughters. The family have lived in the vicinity but a short time, but have made many friends and sympa thy is extended from all.'
