TRAIN SCHEDULE. Talent Is planning a general farm ers' and fruitgrowers' conference to be held on May 28 aud 29 at the Talent school house. There will be five or six O. A. C. professors in at tendance as speakers, also short talks will be given by speakers from the different towns in the Rogue River Valley. A large attendance is hoped for from all over the valley to dis cuss questions which are of reut in terest, to become better acquainted and have a general good time. A surprise party was given Satur day evening at the Vandersluis home in honor of Mr. Vandersluis, who celebrated his birthday. Those pres ent were Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Burgan, Mr. and Mrs. H. Ames and daugh ters, Miss Lucile, Margaret, Con stance and Eleanor, Harry Gleim, Mrs. Selley Luke, Mrs. P. Vander sluis and Alice Vandersluis. Dainty refreshments were served at a late hour and every one had a fine time. Mrs. C. D. Burgan Visited Ashland Tuesday afternoon. Friday evening the congregation of the Christian church tendered a reception to Brother A. A. Moody and family at the church. After spending the evening with games and music a bounteous repast was served, j A number of the members of the Phoenix church were present and all wished Mr. Moody and family God speed and success wherever he in tends to locate. Mr. Moody is mov ing his family and household goods to Ashland, where he will temporar ily reside. He has not yet decided on a permanent location. Mr. Moody recently leased his property in Talent to parties from North Dakota. Mrs. Vance Wolgamot gave a pic nic for her Sunday school class up Wagner creek Saturday. The Talent Tennis Club has been organized with about fifteen business men and ranchers. A number of the well-known experts of the district have come out and will represent the club in tournaments this summer. Dr. William Bagley returned from a business trip in the middle west Saturday evening. The principal stops were Duluth, Minneapolis and Chicago. He had a splendid trip. Mrs. John Wolgamot entertained her Sunday school class at a picnic at the Wagner grove. Mrs. Selley Luke is the guest of creek with the music of violin end guitar. Dana Frame entertained the senior class of the Ashland high school Tuesday evening at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Frame, near Talent. The community is sorry to see her go Several automobile parties spent the week-end at Prospect Several cattlemen who run their cattle on Bald Mountain and Wood ruff Meadows are building a trail to the Meadows up the north side of Rogue river. Heretofore they had to cross at the Natural Bridge. Several loads of supplies and quite a few men nave gone up io uenni work clearing and opening the road to the park. Will G. Steele passed Monday on his way to headquarters in Crater Lake national park. Memorial day services will be held at Cascade Gorge camp grounds in front of J. F. Dittsworth's. Program will begin at 1:30 p. m.. but all who wish can come early and bring their innrh and visit until time for the program to begin. Leta and Enid Peelor of Butte Falls were visitors at T. M. Peelor's Wednesday night. The Industrial Club met at Laurel hurst school house Saturday night and enjoyed a good meeting. Several visitors also enjoyed the meeting. Mrs. R. B. Spring Bank orchard. Mrs. John Budgeon and daughter Ruth spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Dunn at the Mountain ranch. Tom Scantlin motored to Medford and back Saturday. Miss Anna Dunn spent Saturday and Sunday with her cousin, John Lee, and family of Medford. Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Bowman nnd Miss Doin Mockle, who are making the trip from San Diego, Cat., to Loston, Mont., in their automobile, stopped for two days with their friends, Mr. and Mrs. William Dunn. They are enjoying their visit and have had no trouble with their car so far. They think the Rogue River Valley Is the prettiest valley they have seen so far. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Burgan, A. S. Ames and family and the Vandersluis family enjoyed an outing Sunday. They went into the Applegate coun try and visited the Sterling mine. Marlon Tryer and E. E. Cook vis ited Eden precinct Tuesday on busi ness. S. Ames expects to make a trip to Portland in the near future. Those who have been visiting the Bell House this week are W. J. Dal las. L. D. HarrlB and Harry Pellett. Medford won from Talent Sunday on the local grounds, 6 to 2, in one of the best games of the season. One of the itnerestlng features of the game was the pitching of Carter of the Medford nine. It was a well- played game. Fielding was excellent on both sides, and before three in nings had been played it resolved it- things aren't run right. If you don't vote, don't kick. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis of Flounce Rock ranch spent last week in Med ford. Shorty Dodge, who Is working on the Flounch Rock ranch, is In Med ford as a witness for Mr. Kelsoe, w ho is proving up his homestead Violet Vaughn, Ora Dlttsworth, Lillian and Hope Nye, Robert Bro phv and Roy Vaughn took dinner Sunday with Mr. Frank Manning and family.
