Shaffer, Ashland, Ore. 51-St Hiss Sander Enters Convent Filled with enthusiasm over God's future provision for the world, Pas tor "Daniel Toole of New York city spoke here last night to an audience which showed intense interest in what he revealed from the Scriptures as to the Two Salvations. The speak er made it very emphatic that none will get a second chance, though every one will get one full chance for salvation, either in this world or in the world to come. Pastor Toole pointed out that many, who think of the Divine Pro gram as merely an endeavor to res cue mankind from sin and death' to righteousness and eternal life in the present time, are much confused, be- ( Contributed.) cause it must be acknowledged that Again Our Lady of 'the Mountain comparatively little has been done, or baa offered to God the life of one otis now beinS done for man's uplift it dearest daughters. Miss Sander ! After six thousand years it is still begafl her probation the morning of true that "the whole world lieth in November first. Her mother was 'the wicked one;" "darkness covers present at the ceremony of reception , the earth and gross darkness the and saw the doors swing on their heathen." In order to have any con hinges aB they closed on the darling 1 fidence at all in this 'theory, those of her heart. ' who n0,d il are ouliSed to greatly I lower their standards. This order has fur nished to the cause of Christianity the greatest number of illustrioui women and to .the Catholic church the greatest number of saints. Their life is a martyrdom of charity of fering without ceasing tbeir life, their prayers, their penances for the salvation of a humanity which thinks little of its own soul. Tuesday before leaving, Miss San der was tendered a farewell party by the young ladies of the parish. Wed nesday morning one of the moat touching incidents occurred in the chapel when all the young ladies re ceived the Holy Eucharist and to gether knelt for the last time with their dear companion for the Bene diction of the most Blessed Sacra A thorn in the bush is worth two in the hand. and happiness or else provide for them purgatorial experiences, to make them fit for life eternal. He maintained that, as a whole, Chris tian people are greatly bewildered and that the tendency of their be wilderment is toward doubt, skepti cism, atheism. He pointed out, also, that others believe that God never intended the salvation of the world, but merely the salvation of the Church, ."elect according to the foreknowledge of God through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth." Those who h61d this theory are great ly confused, also, because it seems Incomprehensible , that God would make no provision for the "thou sands of millions" of Adam's race, but allow them to be born in sin, shapen in Iniquity, and to go down to the tomb with almost no knowl edge of their Creator, to suffer, ac cording to this theory, an eternity of unspeakable torments. The Chnrch'a Salvation. The speaker then showed that the Scriptures clearly set forth two sal vations, entirely separate and dis tinct. They are different as respects time, in that the one salvation "be gan to be spoken by our Lord" at His first advent, and began to be applicable to the Church at Pentecost and will wholly cease at His second coming in the end of this age. The other salvation neither applied be fore our Lord's first advent nor dur ing this Gospel age, but will apply to all mankind, except the Church, during the millennium the thou sand years of the reign of Christ and the Church, especially designed for the world's blessing and uplift. These two salvations were shown to be distinctly different as' to kind. The salvation or the Church during this Gospel age, since Pentecost, means not only a deliverance from sin and death conditions to eternal life, but provides that their eternal life will be on the heavenly or spirit ual plane and not on the earthly or human plane of existence. Thus the Apostle declares that our "inherit ance is incorruptible and undefiled and fadeth not away and is reserved in heaven for us who are kept by the power of God through faith unto sal vation.'' 1 Pet. 1:4, 5. Our Lord also stated that in the resurrection we shall be as the angels. The Apos tle says that ve shall then be par takers of the Divine nature and like our Lord and Redeemer. " The World's.Salvation. The world's salvation which will follow, will not include a change from the earthly to the spirit nature. It J will mean a rescue from sin and death to the earthly perfection of the original man, in the image and like ness of his Creator, and surrounded by every necessity, blessing and com fort. Human perfection and the Eden home were lost through diso bedience to God." The divine-arrangement is that the merit of the Lord's sacrifice, when ultimately applied for mankind, shall fully cancel ' the death sentence ' upon him, ,' as the Apostle declares: "He is a propitia tion for our (the Church's) sins; and not for ours only, bat afso for the sins of the WRble world." (1 John 2:2.) The New Covenant, .which wa sealed by Jesus blood, will ' go Into effect under Him as Mediator, and under its provisions mankind are to be resurrected to life and perfection, and will gradually be brought back to all the glorious conditions lost In Eden. Paradise Lost will then be Paradise Restored. So we read that "God will have all men to.be saved (from sin and death and the blinding influence's of Satan) and to come unto a knowledge of the Truth," for the purpose of furnishing every child of Adam a fair chance to be saved and to gain eternal life. This re stored earth will be the eternal home of mankind. In conclusion, the speaker urged upon his hearers the necessity of "giving more earnest heed" to the diligent study of God's Word rather than to the creeds originated during the Dark Ages, that thus their faith in God might be increased and their joys made full. Pastor Toole was most emphatic in his assertions that none need expect a second qhance. A chance of salva tion is now being afforded the Church; andjn the age to come each individual of the world will be given his chance to believe and attain per fect life. This will include all the heathen; not that all will gain eter nal life, but that all will be' given a chance to hear and accept if they will. Those who disobey the Lord will be destroyed in the Second Death. Adv. MIHIHIIIIHMIIHIHIIIHIIMIIIIMIIIIIIIIHIMI 12 Water Meters Ordered by City . The city recorder was authorized to accept the proposition of the rep resentative of the Westinghouse peo ple to ship 12 water meters at a cost of about $100, the meters to be shipped January 1, 1913, and billed October 1, 1914, the city to have free trial for nine months. If the' meters proved satisfactory the city is to pay for them. If not, the company will take them back. The council feel that it is only a matter of time, until it will be neces sary to install meters to prevent un due waste of water and believed this a good chance to try them out and see if the mica in the water would clog the meters. n IN LADIES' AND MISSES' !!
