I d » > ( The Methodist conference to be held in Grant's Pass in August will lx* pre- side«l over by Bishop Newman, one of the leading lights of the Methodist church, lie was pastor in New York city for many years, also at Washing ton and many prominent cities, and has probably traveled as much as any man in the ministry. He was also Gen. Grant's pastor, and preached his funeral sermon. Real estate agents at Portland, and they are legion, complain of very dull times and no sales scarcely lx-ing made. 1’he banks have almost ceased loaning money on real estate s.x-urity, owing to scarcity of the circulating medium.
