ALL GIVEN SQUARE DEAL
The Leader has tried to give all
candidates a square deal in the politi
cal contest which is being settled at
the polls today. We have not tried
to use our paper to punish our foes,
nor to boost our friends Into office.
To our notion each candidate was en
titled to an even break, and he who
wins should win on merit. The Lead
er 1b prepared to give its full support
to all Republican nominees after the
Primary Election, but until that time
all Republican cnmlidu'i a are equal.

WARNING ISSUED BY
DISTRICT ATTORNEY
While the political pot is boiling,
strange plots may be brewing to take
last-minute advantage of candidates
and measures. To counteract this pos

attention ot the provisions of the
corrupt practices act.
Political boomerangs may be hurled
if the attention of candidates is not
palled to provisions of the state law
which prohibit the publication and
circulation of any political libelous
matter," commented Mr. Evans. "The
purpose of this statute was to put an
end. to last-minute attacks on candi
dates which cannot be answered be
fore election and which usually are
not based on facts."
A portion of the law reads: "If any
letter, circular, poster, bill, publication
