Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hodges of Elk City have been visiting with Mrs. Hodges father, Frank Fury, here this week. The county steam shovel was put to work yesterday on the grade just Above the Chitwood school house. It will be used to open the road thru to Eddyvllle. HerTaert Heyser departed yesterday for Wheeler, Tillamook County, where he will work in the S. P. Depot. Mr. Frary soys that he has been a jonah to this community, and predicts that now that lie is gone things will boom. He is one of the pioneer resi dents of the bay and lias lived on the place below town for 27 years. J. Hennesy Murphy, a Portland At torney who has been sojourning at Newport the past several months, was a Toledo visitor yesterday, Mr. Mur phy thot Lincoln County had one of the cutest jails he had ever seen. .First he thot it was a church, but when Sheriff Simpson told him it was the jail, and offered him free lodging, he lost Interest in the boauty of the structure.
