The wcrld did not end tho 17th, but th firs', of January will see tho prlco of the Leader at $2.00 per yoar. If you want it for $1.50 you had better got busy at once. . THE ST. REGIS RASPBERRY Newspaper experts have advised us for years to plant the Cuthbcrt rasp berry. I did that a dozen or so years ago. I have the Cuthbert yet. 10 years ago I sent 76c to a dealer for 6 St. Regis plants. I have tried with poor success four other kinds of rasp berries since. Last spring I planted a new bed of the St. Regis. As a neighbor's 'hens, (now gone,) got the most of my Outhberts and refused to lay eggs in my yard, I dug up the plants. Sholfish? I'm not deny ing it. I commandeered an unused strip of the street, fenced away the cows and planted about 100 little Si. Regis plants. I gave the product to Billy last year. He got $5 shoes, a $5 Thrift Stamp, W. S. S., and $5 otherwise on the dry soapstone strip. Other boya got soma. The waxwlnsf, ate all of the first crop this year and only half of the later Cuthberts. The plants bear one crop on the last year's vines and soon a second crop on this year's vines. , Thta year another Billy exhibited at 'the Fair. So did I. He got a blue ribbon, I got a red one, (second prize.) I do not know which sort is the better to plant for a market berry, t muchi prefer the St Regis because of its long double season and the birds do taot trouble the second crop. ' I can glye you, not sell you, plants of both kinds, also of the Cal. Super Ic.ive, a fin crop berry. To can either s-jrt I mask them' well with am equal ctmcunt of sugar without cooking, which spoils raspberries for me. This year the plants are harboring an un godly lot .of musqultoes or a lot of ungodly ones. ' Come and get plants at any; time. I like to be generous with what costs nie nothing. C. M. Drake.
