IN MEMORY
William Clark Copeland, a well
known pioneer of this county,
died at his honi'j in Toledo, Ore
gon, Wednesday morning, after
a lingering illness of several
months, aged 75 years, 7 months
und 2 day3. Mr. Copeland was
born in Harrison county, Ohio,
November 14th, 1842, His fath
er, Wm. Copelond, had a family
of twelve children, one daughter
and eleven sons, all having
grown to man and womanhood.
The subject ot this sketch came
to Yaquitia bay in the early 70s
with his brother, J. S. Copeland.
At fir3t he made his home at
Frank Stantons and engaged in
various pursuits. First in losr-
ging for the sawmill at Toledo
Today is the longest day in
the year.
