To Editor Lincoln County Leader: Will you kindly find space In vour paper for the Red Cross notice given below. This Is not meant in any arbi trary way, but by many It Is believed to be well to divide the County Into districts, designating these districts I In some definite way, that each sub diapter may know the extent of their j territory, and that the citizens -iiny I be Informed !n which sub-chapter dis trict they reside. I As Lincoln County Is divided Into three port districts, the boundary lines of these port districts are considered to' be convenient for sub-chapter dts .tricts except the Beaver Creek and Oystervllle neighborhoods where the port district lines divide these com- munttes. Other than theBe the port district lino will govern. But in these two above mentioned exceptions, it would probably be best If they elect which sub-chapter they wish to be long. Red Cross Districts: The Alsea port district WaldDort sub-chapter district. The Newport port district iNewDort Bub chapter district. The Toledo port district Toledo sub-chapter district Very respectfully submitted, W. E. Ball, Member of Publicity Committee. The White Corner Store I HAVE PURCHASED THE H. ARNOLD, TOLEDO, OREGON WAR WORKERS - CONFERENCE War workers of every city and com munity are urged by Governor Witny. combe to participate In the first Ore gon War Conference, to be held in Portland, May 22 and 23, under the auspices of the State Council of De fense. In a statement Issued Gover nor Wlthycombe says: "Because many matters of vital Importance will be discussed at Ore gon's first war conference to be held In Portland May 22 and 23, I respect fully urge the war workers and offi cials In the cities and communities of Oregon, to make their best effort to be present and participate in the proceedings which are to be conruct ed under the auspices of the State Council of Defense. So many of the war time emergen cies arising In the various local com munities are of a similar nature that it would be both helpful and wise to exenange views looking toward a un iform or co-operative treatment of the different situations insofar as a gen eral plan could be worked out feasi bly and comprehensively. Tli3 success of the coming confer ence depends largely of course, upon the measure of support given by the war workers of Ores m who have thus far piithUHiaHtlcnlly and whole-henrt-edly promoted the general patriotic programme. May 1 not, therefore, rely upon the loyal people of Oregon . to assist the State Council of Defense . Simpson "Your Kind of Man for Governor" Primary FRIDAY May 17, 1918 The Highest possible endorsement, The moBt rigid test that his policies, practiced over a period of. twenty years are SOUND, JL'ST and EFFICIENT. THE BEST POSSIBLE PROOF that his pledges to the citizens of Oregon are not mere "words," but "WORDS BACKED BY WORKS." Those who know him believe IN him, believe IN his ABILITY, believe IN his POLICIES, Thev know he will give Oregon a CLEAN, IMPARTIAL. BUSINESSLIKE ad ministration. They know It to be true ABSOLUTELY. WHY? Because In nineteen years he has employed 21,000 men. He hns always paid Rood wages. Ho NEVER had a strike or a personal Injury suit. He built many homes "on time," NEVER foreclosed a mortgage or sued on a promissory note. Ho has helped muny laboring men to acquire their homes, their business and their livelihood. These workers, who know him best, have endorsed him to a man, have adopted the above slogan and that's "WHY" he is "Your kind of a man for Governor." L. J. SIMPSON (Republican) Paid Ad.
