County Commissioners' Court ad journed last' evening. A. C. Crawford of Lower Farm re turned yesterday from a visit to Port land. Ice Cream and Cake served every Saturday and Sunday at the Bonbon iere. Wm. Clauslus returned to Siletz Wednesday evening, after a visit at Seattle. Mrs. H. A. Drown of Siletz returned Wednesday evening from a visit to the Valley. Johnny Yasek got a badly mashed thumb while loading wood at the mill yesterday. Dr. Jesson attended it. Dr. Berry came up from Newport yesterday. The Doctor is suffering from the effects of blood polsoon in his hand, but thinks the danger is now past. The first baseball game of the sea son will be played here next Sunday between the the High School and Town teams, on the sand spit across the slough. 2 o'clock. Don't fall to see this game. Ralph and George Moore departed ' yesterday morning for Bandon, where they will work at their father's saw mill. Ralph has been connected with the mill here for several months and has made a host of friends during his stay in Toledo, who regret his leaving. At the meeting of the Lincoln County Fire Patrol association in this city laBt Tuesday the board of direc tors was re-elected with one exception. Geo. L. McCaulou wan elected to tnk thu place of A. The dam will be built with gates to let the fresh water out, and will also admit the passage of row boats. This dam will reclaim hundreds of acres of the rich' est and best laud in the worlld. A similar dam wns put across the the mouth of Beaver slough, near the Dun don bridge, several years ago and has proven a wonderful success, reclaim Ing a largo quantity of rich bottom lands. The dam on Olnlla will en brace a larger amount of land and will at once make same available for the growing of crops. Anything that helps these two towns helps the whole county and thus the state. The survey of the bar Is but a start In the right direction. Not until bona fide Improvements are started will per manent good result, and It is my con' vlctlon that until that time it Is but the duty of everyone to "boost" and boost together.
