In some places the peo ple are entirely to blame and in other places the people are not to blame at all. This is a hard country, to get over, people are so scattered and roads bo bad that it is hard for people to get together, and then there's lots of excuses, so if we do not want to go to grange it i3 easy to find an excuse. But everything is gett ing better and after awhile we will forget all of our troubles, the road3 will be better, the weather will be better, then we will feel good and the grange as well as everything else will grow and prosper. I left Eddyville the 31st day of December and went to Elk City and installed a full eet of officers and had a good time all around. Thl3 grange has 48 members in good standing, and air in good working order. They are think ing of building a new hall this Summer. S. W. Scoville is the new Master and C. L. Morrison Secretary. From Flk City to Eddyville and found a good lot of grangers ill waiting. Instated officers and 1H plans for the coming year. They have their hall completed and it is a credit to the com munity. Cf IL Wakefield Is the newly ejected Master, Roger Loudon, Secretary. From EddyvIHe I went to To ledo and found a full set of offi cers ready to he installed. This is the only grange in the county that does real grange floor work fcnd they do it in a very impress ive manner. The newly elected Master is I. F. Hiser; J. W. Par rlsh Secretary. Govern ment Engineer C. R. Wright has just completed a survey of the channel from the sawmill at To ledo to Mill Four. He found not less than eleven feet at ldw water, and the average width of In this issue appears the an nouncement of R. P. I was glad when I reached the Bowers ranch. I was taken in and made to feel at home. Next day was grange day, but on account of stormy weather did not have a meeting. This is one of the weak granges In the county and unless the people get together it will never be any Btronger. This grange has 13 members in good stand ing. J. Coovert, Master, Mr. Holmgreen Secretary; . The next grange is Waldport. Here I found 68 members in eood standing. 1 Installed a full Bet of officers. The new Master is Archie Brooks: Willis Everson, Secre tary. From Waldport I went to Mountain Dell. This grange is situated In the south part of the county, and on account of storm the people did not get together. . This Is another weak grange, every fellow is traveling bv himself. From here I went to Five Rivers and on account of stormy weather did not have a meeting This grange had a membership of 21, have a nice large hall all paid for, and are In good shape to do grange work "If the people would nil go up the river, but Borne are going up the river and nnmn are colng down tne river So take it all in all, most of the granges In the county are doing verv well, but now let me offer a suggestion, let ub all turn and go in the same direction. If we will do this I am sure that the grange will grow and we will all feel better for having pulled to gather, if we all go in different directions we can not do much In grange work or in commun ity work eltr..T. So come on and et us all go the same way awhile. - the boats are liable to strike the ground in making the turns, o Rev.
