Hollingsworth went to Newport Tuesday even ing. At the special school meeting held at the Grammar School last Saturday a six mill levy was made to defray the expenses of the school for the coming year. This Is the same levy that was made last year. . Mr. and Mrs. R.- A. Arnold, .Mr. and Mrs. G. B. McCluskey and Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Ilayden went to Siletz last Saturday to spend the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hall of that place. They brought home a fine bunch of trout. Mrs. Wm. Scarth fell the first of the week at her home on Big Elk and it was thought at first that she had fractured her hip, hut upon an examination being made by Dr. Burgess it was found that the bone was not broken, though tho injury is a very painful one. Twenty of 'the friends of Peter Frederick called 'n on him last Tuesday evening and gave him a real, old-fashioned surprise party, the occasion being his birthday. The evening was most pleasantly spent In playing "600," Boclal entercourse, music and a good time . generally. Refreshments were served at 11:30. The neighbors of Mrs. Morck met at her home Sunday, the 24th, for a birthday picnic din ner, In honor of her birthday.
