Chaiiiberlain will speak at tlie courthouse in this city this evening at eiglit o'clock on the political issues of the present campaign. Everybody come out to hear our Senator. B. F. Jones, candidate for the ofrio of Circuit Judn-o of this (list vict is a Lincoln county man and nearly every man in this county knows him and will give him their vote on No vember 8th. Ben Jones was never tlefeated while running for an office. J. F. Stewart has riled his accep tance of the nomination for the office of County Judge on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Stewart held the office of Judge of this county four years, and is well-known throughout the county. He has beer, a resident of this place since 189:!, and has al ways been identified with the pro gressive men of the county. His administration when Judge was a good administration. Announcement. At the earnest solicitation of many of the best voters of all parties in Lincoln County, I have accepted the nomination for the office of County Judge and will be a candidate at the eomming election in November. If elected to this important office I will earnestly endeavor to conduct the affairs of the county honestly and economically, and with a view to the development and welfare of the county. I will be guided by the law in my administration of affairs, and will interpret them to the best interests of the county. I will have no pets or favorites; a dol lar's worth of value for a dollar's taxes will be my effort. Every man or set of men appearing before me in my official capacity, either in person or by petition, will receive fair and courteous treatment, and I will be a county judge for the whole county. Soliciting the support of the voters upon that basis, I am Very Truly, J. F. Stewart. Mr. J. M. Upton independent candidate for Circuit Judge, to re side in Coos County, bases his claim to the consideration of the voters of Lincoln County upon the grounds, ( 1 ) that the office is non-political in character; (2) that the people of Coos County should be accorded the right to name the Judge who is to preside over that Court, and (3) that he was indorsed by over 700 voters after the primaries and with in four days after declaring his will ingness to become a candidate. Wednesday evening Ed Wade's saloon at Yaquina was entered by the breaking in of a back window and a small amount of money that was ten m the cash register for change, and some whiskey and cig ars were taken. A man by the name of Binehart was found drunk on the school grounds at Yaquina yesterday and it is thought that he is the one who committed the crime. Rinehart has been staying at Newport for some time and it is thought that he might be connected with the tw o saloon robberies which occured there a short time ago. Stewart returned Sun day morning from a week's visit with her father at Ashland. H. Nice of Lutgens was shaking hands with old friends and transact ing business in the county scat Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Plank and children returned Tuesday evening from a month's visit at Portland and other points. They will leave their Mill Creek farm and move to town ior the winter. School Library Books. The safiool library books are here, and ready for distribution. Each school district gets its share of them. There were some twenty five or thir ty districts that made no selection, but they will get books just the same as though they had, with this diffe rence: They may not get the books they would have, if they had select-1 ed for themselves. So in the future makes the selection just as soon as you receive the blanks, for that pur pose, and send them in, you will then get what you want. The districts will have to pay the postage, express or other charges for transportation, from Toledo. All charges are paid to Toledo.
