County Fruit Inspector Irvin's appeal to tlm apple growers of this county should he heeded, and an effort made by our fruit men to comply with his wish. He has offer ed a cash prize which is worth striv ing for, and as he says, the prize offered is the least thing, as the real ml vantage to be gained is by show ing and advertising our excellent, wormless apples to the outside world. We enn raise as good apples in Lincoln County as any where in the United States. Our apples are fine flavored, good keepers and absolute ly wormless. They can be raised here with half the care required in any other locality. Send in your best specimens to Mr. Irvin and help him to advertise one of our best products. Newport is soon to havo a cream cry. Ona, and Kernville are to have cheese factories. Waldport has a new creamery. So it goes. Within the space of a very few years Lincoln County will he shipping butter and cheese 'by (he car and lioat loads. We have the climato imd the soil for one of the greatest daiiy countries in the world, so we may reasonably expect big things in the dairy business. The Newport Signal wants tho .nttrr.ctions of an old-fashioned clam bake at the beach again. There is nothing that will attract people more than a clam bake, and it is a thing the citizens of Newport can afford to have at least once a year. Witt a half dozen big sawmills running every day in the year on Yaquina bay will make things lively here. We will see these within the next two years or less. See Palaha, at Elk City, for your dairy farms. Drafts and Money Orders sold, payable at all principal points the United States, Canada and Europe. THOS. LEES .President. WM. The districts are to send some one to get them or they may send the money to me to pay the postage or express. It will take on an average about 40 cents for postage or express. They should be in your schools as soon you can get them, that they may be read - this winter. I will say to districts No. 3, 5, 8,10, 15,16, 18., 20, 25, 28,31. 37, 40, 44, 47, 49, 53, 57, 58, 61, K2 and 63 that you may get some of the same as you now have, if you do, it may be that you can exchange with some other district. Your or tlor was not received at all or it came to late to go in with the others. It would be well for the school offic ers to read sections 209 and 210 of the school laws of 1909. They will explain to you why it is that some orders were not sent to the commissi on,. In the future let's all try and have the orders ready by the 15th of July. You will then be sure of the books that you want. They are all good but what is best for one school is not for another. If you make the selection you will be letter pleased than if I or the commision makes it for you. R. P. Goin, Supt. of Schools. .
