Every man, woman and child in
Lincoln county should take a special
prido in the coming county fair and
festival, September 8,' 9 and 10.
It is to your advantage to see that
this fair a success. The committees
are and have been foi months work
ing hard for the successful termina
tion of this fair. Not one member
of theso committees will be bene
fitted more than any other person
living in the county. They are
simply public spirited men and wo
man and take pride in advertising
the resources and products of our
county, to ourselves and to the
many visitors who will be here
from other parts of the state. We
must not sit back and depend on
these committees to do all the work.
Everyone must do all he or she can
to boost and assist the fair. Pre
pare your exhibits individual and
community talk fair to everyone
you meet; keep talking. Do not
try to make yourself believe this is
going to be a small affair for it is
not, It is going to be the biggest
three days of pleasure, instruction
and entertainment ever held in this
county. Every visitor to the fail
will be surprised at the variety and
quality of Lincoln county's pro
ducts. None of us know all that
our county is producing. Bring
any and everything you have made
or raisod that is of any me-it. See
what some other person has to
show., Don't sit back but butt in
and pull for the fair and festival,

The regular session 'of the Toledo
Development league was held at
the city hull last Tuesday evening,
There was a good attendance, many
new members being present, and
business of much importance trans
acted.
1 The League guaranteed hay for
the use of the Fair Committee,
A committee of three, consisting
of J. p, Stewart, C. E. Hawkins,
and C. B. Crosnq, was appointed to
draft resolutions to be sent to mem
lers of Oregon representative in
Congress 'approving the action of
llio people in Olalla Dyking District
in attempting to reclaim the hun
dreds of acres of overflowed tidoland
along that stream, and condemning
the action of a few persons in at
tempting to hinder tho work al
ready begun,
A comniittoe of five was appoint
ed as a soliciting committee to raise
the $200 pledged by tho League for
the Fair and Festival. The com
juitteemen are, Frank Newton, A.
T. Puterson, A, Rosebrook,' II.
Lewis and It. N. Wamock.
Secretary Crosno reported that
tho entire amount of monoy pledged
us Toledo's share of the publicity
fund of the Sunset Magazine Com
jMiny had been paid.
The matter of a ferry and bridge
across the boy. at this place was
freely discussed, and it is evident
that tho business men and all othor
citizens of this place intend to have
a way provided for tho people re
siding in the southern end of tho
county to reach the county seat.
The matter will bo takon up im,
mediately.
