Lincoln County Leader SUPPLEMENT TOLEDO, OREGON, APRIL 30, 1909 Last Friday afternoon a special train passed ' down to Yaquina, carrying officials of the Southern Pacific and Corvallis & Eastern, among whom were, General Passen ger Agent William McMurray, As sistant General Pnprgcr Agent John M. Scott, Traveling Passenger Agent W. II. Jenkins, General Sup erintendent M. J. Buckley, Right of Way Agent J. W. Morrow, State Inspector Brown, of the S. P. Co., and Superintendent Walsh, Supt. of Construction John Stevens, of the C. & E. and others. They returned the following morning. Enroute down they made a short stop in To ledo to get acquainted . This of fice acknowledges a pleasant call. The object of the visit of these of ficials was in the interest of the coming season's travel to the coast. Frank Gattrell returned from Portland Wednesday evening. Mr. Gattrell is here in the interest o f the Fir S Spruce Lumber Company, and is attempting to make arrange ments for the operation of the mill here. He feels confident that the mill will be running soon. Adam Rae last week sold his gar den and fruit ranch to Mrs. Bruseth, who has taken charge. We under stand Mr. and Mrs. Rae will go to Medford to reside, the change of climate is needed for Mrs. Rae's health. Everett Wildman was down from Chitwood Tuesday. He had a land contest case before County Clerk Ira Wade. Ralph Wilson was one of his witnesses. Mrs. Fred Neal and children went to Salado Tuesday for a visit with Mrs. Neal's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Daniels. Ed Avery came in from the big woods Monday afternoon. He has leen doing some plumping here this week. BORN To the wife of Charles Bradeson in this city, Thursday, April 29, 1909, a daughter. Captain Henry Nice of Lutjens was in the city the first of the week. J. S. Copeland came down from Salado Monday evening. Geo. W. Cox of Rocco was in the city last week. B. F. Ilahn was up from Yaquina Monday afternoon. Edison and Victor Phonographs at Toledo Drug Co. Grant Hart of Chitwood was in the city Wednesday. George Stephenson went to Al bany Wednesday, morning. County Court will be in session next week, convening Wednesday. Newton & Nye have a complete line of fishing tackle and base ball goods. Messrs. Henry and Peterson, con tractors of Newport, are in the city today. W. II . Daniels of Salado was transacting business at the county seat the first of the week. Dr. Adams went to Portland Monday morning. Mrs. Adams came up from Newport and took charge of his office here during his absence. G. E. Reeves and family depar ted Wednesday morning, for Albany where they will live this summer. Paul will remain here until school closes and attend school . Married. At the pallors of the Commercial Hotel, Thursday afternoon, April 29, 1909, Frank Oscar Johnson and Eva May Hurt, Reverend C. R. Ellsworth officiating. The contrac ting parties are both from Wald port. Frank and Mollie Hurt came along as witnesses. . Word was received at this place last evening of the death yesterday of Mrs. Mary Ann Rose at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. R. Wake field, at Waldport. Mrs. Rose was 79 years and 11 months old at the time of her death. Further partic ulars we were unable to learn. At the annual meeting of the To ledo Ball Team at the City Hall Wednesday evening the following officers were eltcted for the ensuing term: President, R. D. Burgess; Manager, J. S. Akin; Secretary Treasurer,. Arthur Nye. It was de cided at the meeting to have a game of ball next Sunday between Toledo players, at which time the regular team for this place will probably lc selected. - New Game Laws. The following is a short synopsis of the game laws passed at the last session of the Legislature as appli cable to Lincoln county: It shall be lawful to kill buck deer from August 1, to Oct. 31; silver gray squirrel from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31; native pheasants and grouse Oct. 15 to Nov. 15; quail (except bob white) Ool. 15 to Nov. 15; doves and wild pigeons Sept. 15 to Jan. 31; ducks Oct. 15 to Feb. 15; geese and swan Sept. 1 to Nov. 1. It shall be lawful to catch trout from April 1 to Nov. 1. Limits allowed: Pheasants and grouse 5 in one day or 10 in one week ; ducks 35 in one week ; geese and swan no limit; deer 5 in one season; trout 72 in one ' day: bass and salmon trout, no limit, open all the year with but hook and line only. It is unlawful to fish or huni without a license. To hunt or kill i any elk until Aug. 1, 1919; to run deer with dogs or night hunting, to kill beaver any age, or male deer less than one year old or female deer at any time, to ship or sell deer skins without being properly tagged. The new game law will go into effect on and after the 22nd of May, , 1909. Until that . time no fishing license will be required. Card of Thanks.
