Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Daniels o( Toledo are visiting relatives on the creek. , Miss Leota Calkins returned home from Toledo Saturday where she has leen visiting her sister Mrs. Jess Daniels. Mr. J."T. Calkins and family, and Jesse Daniel and wife visited Frar.k Lang's folks Sunday. George Calkins went to Glen Sunday. Elmer Watkins visited C. C. Brown's folks Sunday. His broth er Nathan started with him but in crossing the creek he had the mis fortune to fall in so returned home for dry clothes. Mrs. Frank Lang and family visited J. F. Calkins folks Monday. Talk about the wind ! (lowing! It has been blowing over here. It blowed Luke Williams new house down, he had the roof on and one side boarded. George Davenport had the misfortune to have a snag blow down on his cow killing her. Win. Darnley and C. C. Brown are hauling wood while the weather permits. We still have snow on the ground. Willie Randall and wife intend to move on the creek to live for the Summer. We are always glad to get more neighbors. They will live on the old Holbrook place now occupied by George Calkins. Mr. Calkins intends to move on the Sturdcvant place as soon as ihe weather settles. 700 ENGINES IN ONE ORDER A Large Boat Builder Places an Initial Order Which Exceeds Anything on Record. The W. II. Mullins Co., of Salem, 0., manufactures of pressed steel boats, has just closed the largest order on record for engines. This order goes to the Ferro Machine & Foundry Co., of ' Cleaveland, and includes 700 engines to be delivered in the next 60 days. Mr. Mullens said in response to a question that he was confident of a splendid vol ume of business and would no doubt . duplicate this order before the first of May. These engines go into boats of various sizes and show the marvelous growth of the power boat business. The advent of the gasoline motor has wrought the most extraordinary development in general boating, not only for pleasure launches, but also for small and large utility boats. Ten years ago, motor drh en boats were as little thought of, and even less, than the flying machine is today, Where the sail boat and rowboat sports were indulged in very limitedly only in localities where the best of boating facalities were afforded years ago, today will find every inland lake and river that is at all navigable, as well as the coast waters, floating its quota of power boats of all descriptions. Even rowboats have been made con vertable by the development of the small gasoline motor, weighing less than the average human being. Sailing, a most exhilarating sport, has largely given away to motor boating and the percentage of sail boats being used today without a gasoline engine in them for auxili ary power is suprisingly small. We have one of the Ferro Mach ine & Foundry Co's., 3 horsepower engines installed in our office to run our presses. We have used it eight months with good results. Anyone who intends purchasing a gasoline engine will do well to see . D. Burgess, who is local airent for these engines.
