John Williams, late of Wasco pounty, paid us a visit here last week. , E. T. Raddant has returned from the Valley, bringing with him a fine team of horses. John Saari and Ned Clark are running John Kentta's store during his absence. Rev. Mr. Pcarse preached at Rocco Sunday, and Rev. John Adams preached in the M. E. church here Snnday morning. After a long illness Foster Smith died last Tuesday of consumption. John Lloyd and wife visited in Siletz on Monday. Esther Copeland spent Sunday with her mother, returning to school in Toledo Monday. Dr. Minthorn of Newport was in Siletz a couple of days last week, having been called in consultation by Dr. Hawkins in the Sutton- Strong case. , BORN IN IOWA. The people here were about out of provisions, some were ready to start to the Agency for supplies. Ethel and Verne Ross are on their homesteads. A"petition is being circulated to have a mail route established, be ginning at Newport, going north up the coast to Kernville, thence north east to Rose Lodge on Salmon river.' Jesse Farrin made a trip to the Valley last week. Lenard Stark has returned home. Wm. Bones of Eola came in last week. He will remain a while for his health. STOMACH TROUBLES. Miss Josephine Wisniewski has received a nice gold belt, as a pres ent from one of the ship-wrecked sailors of the Minnie E. Kelton. Another body was found lust week from the wreck of the Minnie E. Kelton. There was nothing left but the skeleton. A certain young man on Salmon river took a nice young lady to a dance but as they returned home next morning his heart failed him all at once. He said ' 'I guess I had better go home and look after my cows, they may be in the larkspur." And he went. Moral: If you take the other fellow's girl, don't let the other fellow catch you with her.
