Albany people should appreciate the efforts of its young people to help themselves and furnish enter tainment liy patronizing such affairs as the recent minstrel show given here by the mem!)ers of Company G. and the Albany band. After weeks of hard work the show was staged in the local opera house. The per formance was of high quality, and the small attention it received from local residents is to lie deplored. For all their work the band and militia boys only cleared thirteen dollars. Herald. . We do things different over her?. When the fire !xys gave a minstrel show, standing room was at a pre mium. And all local talent shows given here have always been well patronized. Wife (displaying a large lamp shade recently purchased) Isn't that perfectly lovely dear? And just think, it only cost fifty dollars. Husband (severely) if you wear that to church tomorrow, you will go alone, There is a limit to every thing, including hats. , An exchange says that times have changed in many ways. In former times when a man got a pain in his stomach his wife laid a red hot stove lid on him, and in the morning he was able to slop the !iogs, feed the calf and kick the cat . Now if he gets an . uncomfortable feeling back of his waist band the doctor calls it appendicitis, lays him on the table, cuts a hole in bis anatomy, and he dies maybe. Again, in the old days you could take your razor or jackknife and trim your corns, put on your shoes and plow all day. Now if you even want to scrape toe top of your horny t e, blood poisoning sets in and off comes your leg. For Sale. Young gentle horse; works single or double; weight, 1130 lbs.
