Editor Leader: If you will al
low me space in the Leader I wish
to 'say a few words, as the report
came from Toledo that if Jay Dunn
was elected Sheriff I would be his
deputy. Every word of this is false
Who ever started this must have
been dreaming or had the night
maie, as I haven't seen Jay Dunn
nor spoken to him for over a year.
I did not know that he was going
to try for Sheriff until be was up
here on his canvass and then I was
away from home and did not see
him. Besides I am not looking for
any deputyship or appointments,
either. If I want an office I will
let the voters of Lincoln county say
whether I shall have it or not.
As to Jay Dunn so far as I know
he will make a good Sheriff. And
as to Jim Ross, I ran against him
two different times for the office of
Sheriff, although he defeated me 1 y
a small majority I have no personal
foeling against him. He is a jolly
good fellow, and I expect to support
him in the June election. As I
registered Republican I expect to
bo loyal to the ticket.
There has been much comment
on my regsitering republican, and
that I am faking. I wish to say
that I was raised a Democrat and
used to think that all Republicans
belonged to or stood in with the
trusts, but of late years I have been
studying the issues and have been a
Roosevelt man ever since he has
been President. I think the Re
publican platform is all right and
to the bjst interests of the people if
the right man is at the wheel. '
