The country above Elk City in
the Big Elk valley seems to have
taken on renewed life and activity.
Several new settlers have come into
that region and a general awakening
has been had. Many pieces' of land
have changed hands during the
past six months, and new settlers
are still coming in. . Among the re
cent newcomers located in that
beautiful valley, are Mr. Godley, lo
cated near the old Sala'dopostoflice,
Mr, Smith, on the old Graves'
place; Mr. Laws,-Mr. Strafer, Mr.
Kimball and Mr. Woodford. . This
new .blood, with the progressive
settlers already there, is giving new
life to the Big Elk Valley. A local
telephone line, connected at Elk
City with the Lincoln County Tele
phone line, has about ten patrons,
wth'.rnore getting ready to join.
There will be more cows milked-,
potatoes planted, berries grown and
hay raised -onl Big Elk thisvyeir
