In the candidates column in this
issue will lc found the announce
ments of B. F. JonesC. II. Gard
ner, J. W. Dunn, It. H. Miller
-and J. H. Ross, asking for the sup
port of the Republican voters at the
primary election April 17.
Mr. Jones our present Joint Rep
resentative, wants the nomination
to the office .to succeed himself.
His record during his past term of
office has been good and he has al
ways been found looking after .the
interests of the two counties he rcpT
resents. Mr. Jones needs no in
troduction as he is well known to
nearly every voter in the two
counties.
Charles IT. fJnrdnor, w been a
resident of Lincoln county for over
four years, and came to our county
from Portland. Mr. Gardner is a
Republican, and as wo believe,
worthy of the support of all Repub
licans of our County and District,
lie is qualified for the position he
pecks, and we feel assured, should
he succeed in Ix'ing elected to the
position of representative, that our
District will be represented by a
consistent Republican, and one that
will give credit to Lincoln and Polk
counties.
Sheriff J. II. Ross wants to suc
ceed himself. Mr. Ross has made
this county a good Sheriff during
the past eight years and we know
that if reelected the office will be
conducted in the same manner.
Jay AV. Dunn aspires for the
humiliation of Sheriff. Mr. Dunn
is one of our brightest young men
and is competent to fill the office of
Sheriff. lie was lorn and raised
in this county awl is a Republican,
lie would make this county a good
Sheriff.
Mr. R. R. Miller who is after the
nomination of Assessor at the prim
aries i a resident of Nashville pre
cinct, lie is a teacher by profes
sion and has leen teaching the past
t'ireo years at Summit' and Nash
ville. Mr. Miller is a graduate of
an Eastern University and is well
qualified to fi:l the office. If elec
ted he promises to give everyone a
fair and equal assessment with jus
lice to all.
