Being a candidate for the nomination as County Judge for Lincoln county on tbe Republican ticket at tbe coining primary nominating election on the ?Oth dav of April, 1906, will sav: If I am nominated and elected to said office, I will attend faithfully and conscientiously to the duties thereof and will do everything within my power, as such officer, to promote good, substantial roads in tbe different parts of Lincolu county, in so far as the financial ability of said county will permit; and furthermore, I will dis charge the duties of said office in the interest of true economy, and will at all times carefully guard and protect the interests of the taxpayers and residents of said county. I am free to say that no political ring lias any strings on me, and I pledged myself that if I should become a member of the official parlors I will not belong to any official ring, but will stand free to execute the duties of said office fearlessly and. with justice to all. Every combination of capital known as a trust should be placed under tint ban of the law. not only should trust corporations themselves be burred from doing business, but the individuals responsible for the combinations should bo punished as provided by law, says H. M.yCake, candidate for United States Senator. There is probably no man in the state of Oregon more pronounced in his opinions unnu this subject than Mr. Cake, as evidenced by his actions and past utterances. He is not the attorney for, is not interested in, nor does represent, di rectly or indirectly, any trust. He believes in the absolute freedom of competition of all lines of business the preservation of the equal rights of the entire citizenship of the country, free from interferance by combinations of capital. Mr. Cake is a III in believer in the right of the American working man tn protect himself by menus of labor or ganisations against the oppressions of of organized capital.
