George Brownell of CInckamaa would say, President Roosevelt was renom luated by acclamation by the Chicago couventiou and Charles W. Fairbanks of Indiana was chosen as his running mate m tne same manner. Senator Fairbanks is one of the brainiest men in the Nation, and hr.s long been re garded as a presidential possibility. A stronger ticket it would not, perhaps, have been possible to name. There U nothing to figure on now except the size or me majority for Roosevelt and Fairbanks, which, it is almost safe to predict, will break all records. TheJapu eeeiu to be holding their own, and a little more, but it is about time for Port Arthur to fall again. . AN ELEPHANT TRAIT. Th Animal Walle Boar Will Never Injure a Person. "An elephant never Injures a person when ft Is busy," says an animal train er with a big circus. If we start n horse or a dog do ing a trick we can't leave It for u min ute or it will loaf or stop work alto gether, but it Is different with an ele phant Once get it started, either alone or with others, and it will go through with Its turn without another word. It is absorbed in Its work. "That same trait 1 take it, is what makes an elephnut such a vicious ani mal when it gets ugly. It can think of nothing but what has made it nugry, and it will not stop until it has torn something to pieces. Oh, yes, un ele phant can carry a grudge. It never for gets an injury, and it waits its chance to get even, but when it is busy it for gets the tricks that have been played ou It. It is only when it has nothing to do that it gets to brooding over its troubles. Human, eh? Well, I have known folk with thut sort of disposition."
