He will find that all back taxes are in cluded in said report as a resource. The next subject dealt with by Mr. Clark is the county expense for the next six months which has not yet been incurred. He evidently forgot to add thereto the expense of the Lewis and Clark Fair to bo held in Portland I in 1905. It certainly would have been in keepiug with his peculiar logic. He figures tbe expense of the next six months at 88,869 and the interest at $3,308, and after giving credit for the funds in the hands of the Treasurer and the $5000 uncollected taxes, he finds, after consultation with Brother Matthews of the Newsance, that the indebtedness is $01,267. Now we desire to say a word in regard lo this report being a "campaign state' ment," Had County Clerk Wade de- aired to issue such a document he would uave enun,eraieu among tne resources the total amouutof all property bid in by the county at tax sales, as well as the county farm, courthouse and grounds, as did bis predecessor, Mr. Lutz, In his last report of March 31, 1802. which was never published, as re quired by law, but it is on file in the Clerk's office. This report, after giving the amount of money in the Treasurer's hands applicable to the payment of county warrants, estimates the re- sources as follows; Uncollected taxes $ 9,900 65 1 Value of property bought in by the cnuutv at tax sale of 1900 ft.nnn nn All prior tax salob 8,000 00 County farm 490 00 Courthouse and grounds 4,000 00 I Total $27,860 65 Here is a total of 827,360.65 estimated as resources by Mr. Lutz which was not cash.
