political issues from a republican
standpoint. Voters of every politi
cal faith were present; also a large
number ot ladies God bless 'em.
The Toledo band was also there,
and after it had rendered a couple
of warming-up numbers. Chair
man Swope introduced the speaker.
Mr. Ford is not an orator, in the
accepted sense of the word, but a
plain-spoken, logical debater who
appreciates the value of common,
every -day language. He indulges
in no thrilling, intoxicating flights
of oratory; like the cup of tea our
foremothers used to make, he
"cheers, but does not inebriate."
He covered the ground thoroughly,
touching and dwelling upon every
issue "paramount" and otherwise
He reviewed our country's past
and jogged the memories of his
heaters with facts concerning the
policy of that much-eulogized clem

which now has a membership of
