Monday for Roseburg, where she will attend school this winter. Mrs. Litchfield, accompanied bv her daughter Gertrude, left Wednesday for their home at Salem. : Al Johnson of Portland arrived Tues day with his friends and hunting outfit. They are here for a good time, and, weather permitting, will enjoy it. Mrs. J. Booth, an old-time resident of Yaquino, spent Saturday and Sunday with her many friends on the bay aud left Monday for Seattle to join her hus band, who recently returned from Nome. Fall Creek has come to life again. Mr. Oglesby's folks are moving out to Alsea for the winter. James AVebber and family have gone to Independence to pick hops. Wallace Lee has quit going up Fall creek. I guess the road has got too bad for him. Oscar Tom came in from Corvallis. Ho says he had on 2100 pounds, which is proof that we have a good mountain road. Mr. Monotti has quite a number of pickers at work on his prunes. These rains are discouraging to the prune and hoppickcrs. Quite a lot of improvements are going on up at the Saybrook farm. How long it will last I don't kuow till the leaves begin to fall, I guess. Mrs. Brady and her sister, Mrs. Maud Ketchin, have returned to their home in southern Oregon. They have been visiting their aunt, Mrs. Trenholm, for tln past month. Charley Kollet has arrived tram Ne vada and is stopping at Mr. Pickett's. He says there is too much rain here, but I think he will bo all right when the moss begins to grow on his back. I passed along the road by the Pali sade farm a few days ago. No one was at home, and the chickens ran and flew like a hawk was after them. I thiuk tho owner needs care and attention. The bachelors on Fall creek and Alsea are talking of going over to the Siletz after prune picking and chittim skin ning is over what for, 1 don't know. I wish them good luck, ns I'm in the same boat.
